Organizer to UP - xbrook - 09-09-2008 I have question about add some organizer to TC UP, maybe it could be usefull function for many people, maybe not. I saw the program named Rainlendar, it seems to be perfect organizer with a lot of functions and userfriedly graphic style. But rainlendar is also freeware / shareware. Freeware is fully functionable with all neccesary functions- What about that? RE: Organizer to UP - fenixproductions - 09-09-2008 Indeed Rainlendar is good tool but it's not good organizer. It's only fancy Calendar with ToDos and Events (maybe weather and clock too). For being good organizer some kind of address book is needed and better calendar views handling. I am using Rainlendar for a long time but it's painful when it comes to easy views switching. The problem is in it's working mode. Using Rainlendar as all time organizer would be as comfortable as sticking Hexelon to desktop and then making calculations. The best use flow for such tool should be getting ann app in tray, use some keys (or click on icon) to invoke it. Later: click here, click there, minimize, "I'm done". Same as for Miranda. If I had to minimize all opened windows to send a message or browse options to get additional list view (week, month, day) then I would never install it. Unfortunately: there is no good and free PIM application. You might not believe but I've tried dozen organizers during last three years (at least) and every single one of them was thrown away after one day of testings. The reasons were different for various apps but the most similar were:
The problem is also in double-licenced apps. Commercial versions are great but free ones are often so much cut that it is not even worth to download them. Take a look on awards winning EssentialPIM. It is good application but you have no possibility to change default events categories (or contacts groups) and no possibility to get tasks in tree. The last problem is learning curve. Organizer should be easy to use and not require remodelling your brain (like Chandler does). PS. It is not the final "NO". I am still looking for good PIM and as soon as I find it I will bother Ultima personally to add such tool

I undestood many things. in the end u talk about "essentialPIM" and i have to said that this program is perfect and maybe for many fans also for buy!If it will be freeware with all functions, that will be perfect. With rainlendar and hexelon u have right and i copy your opinion. but it s a shame that we have no choose from freeware programs in this category. I will use for now essentialPIM.Thanx for advice fenix! |
