What do you think to use "Subtitle Workshop" to edit and adjust all types of subtitles files (srt, sub, ssi...) I integrate in my TCUP software pack and I think it is very usefull..
You can find in:

It is free software and no doubt it is the best in edit subtitles...

AFAIK it requires .NET framework to be installed.
I doubt Ultima will ever add such app (same goes for Java).

I'm not aware that v2.51 uses .net and that version is still the one most used.
