But what is the purpose of Unlocker if the file is not locked by any application I don't get this?

The key word is additional. Unlocker is additional tool for deleting files which cannot be removed using standard methods.

For now you have plenty ways for clearing your folders like:
- F8 key press,
- Del key press,
- bottom "F8 Delete" button click,
- drag and drop of item into "F8 Delete" bottom button,
- some packer or filesystem plugins (not included into TC UP).

You can use one of them in most of the cases BUT if you have some problems, you might need a help. That is where ForceDel began to work for previous versions and Unlocker for the current one.

IIRC The reason for replacing ForceDel is that Unlocker can handle problematic files better.
