The problem is more complex:
- there were no media handling changes between these versions,
- Ultima does not have Windows Vista to test it,
- there are no problems for him (and me) under XP.
There could be few reasons for such behaviour (like antivirus blocking WMP calls) BUT it might only happen in the case of changes.
The only thing that comes to my mind is to take a look on mmedia.wlx privileges. Maybe they were changed.
Unfortunately: we can do nothing about it without problematic installation on Vista.
You can try to copy old version and the new one to separate directory and run "Synchronise directories" tool on them. Delete all identical files and "Compare by content" left out text files (INI, CFG, etc.).
Without it: we can't even guess what's wrong.
BTW I've tried default installations for both versions under Vista on VirtualPC and they are working just fine.
