Probably too late but still: does Internal associations system really work? I do have menu x64 on my Vista, but after I set association, it changes both TC and Explorer. Where are these settings stored?

TC UP 4.9 does not offer direct access to them. It's you use the menu, you set them system-wide.
Currently, you can configure internal ones by executing cm_InternalAssociate in the command line.
