Creating files and folders

1. Basic TC functions

Creating new folders can be done by using "F7 New Folder" bottom bar button or Shift+F7 shortcut keys. Using one of these will bring embedded new folder dialog. New resource's name is suggested depending of the list item, which has been selected (but without extension).

Creating completely new file is possible using Shift+F4 shortcut. Like in previous example, new name is suggested according to item selected on the panel's list. If you choose a file, new file's name will the same. In the case of focusing the folder, file's name field will be empty.

2. Extended functions of TC UP

Using the other way (F7 key) will show TC UP New application's window. Similar to the embedded method, this application suggests new resource's name according to the item selected on the files list.

MOVIE

TC UP New extends standard files creation process. The first things that makes difference are: new dialog layout and additional buttons availability.

"Directory" and "File" buttons allows you to choose the resource's type to be created.
Red button gives you the chance to define behaviour which will be handled after application create the file / folder (the window is closed by default).
You can always have the possibility to automatically opening or editing created resource too.

MOVIE

Right bottom list is changing too. When you create a file you can choose its extension in it. Creating new folder you can select the attributes you wish to have for it.

It is good to remember that some of created files are not empty. E.g. when you create *.html file, the new item has the standard tags already written.

3. TC UP New Setting window.

This window gives you possibility to sett up TC UP New application.
All available options are gathered in eight different tabs:
  • About - contains information about application,
  • Language - allows you to change application's language,
  • Settings - gives you the possibility to reset all settings, configure written names saving and enabling Auto Complete feature,
  • Advanced settings - allows to clean up given names' history and to change the behaviour which occurs after creating resource (changing this settings is possible without bringing "Settings" window up via proper buttons usage):
  • Extensions - in this tab you can define files' extension which can be suggested in the bottom right list,
  • Naming - when you are trying to create the folder with already existing name, TC UP New can add the counter at the end of it, settings for this behaviour can be found here,
  • Appearance - contains application's layout settings, allows you to change the skin too,
  • Misc. - you can configure autosuggestion features in this tab.
4. New extensions templates [Advanced users]

During the new file creation, TC Up New application is checking if there is template for needed extension. In that case the template file will be copied instead creating new one and at the end it will be renamed to the needed name. Files without templates are created in instant but they are empty and theirs size equals zero.

All existing templates are stored in:
Code:
<TC UP installation path>\PLUGINS\Tools\TCUPNew\templates
You should already discover that templates naming is given by the scheme:
Code:
template.<extension>
If you want to define new template, you need new file with proper extension.

EXAMPLE: You want to have your own JPG files template.

In that case you should:
- run PhotoFiltre application (Programs menu -> PhotoFiltre)
- in the File menu choose New
- define the size of the image (e.g. Width: 800, Height: 600)
- choose File and Save as...
- save template.jpg file in the templates directory
- close PhotoFiltre application
- bring up TC UP New window (by using F7 key) and go to Settings
- on the Extensions tab add JPG and choose OK

MOVIE

All new *.jpg files creating process will use your template since now.
