Problem adding a file to existing RAR archive in TC UP 3.0
#1
Hello

First of all I would like to say, wow, what a great job with all the plugins already added in this really Ultimate pack. I was previously using TC PowerPack, and sometimes it was a hassle adding all external plugins to it, to make it fully workable/usable.

Now to my problem, I`m using TC UP 3.0 , basicly the latest version, and I`m having problems while trying to add a file or directory to an existing RAR archive. The error I get is "Function not supported!"(picture added) and I dont know why, since it worked perfectly well in PowerPack and in normal total commanders.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

First of all, wow, really it is a cool pack, but not Ultimate; it's ULTIMA.
The guy who creates it, uses this name, but don't worry, people call it Ultra Prime as well.Big Grin (Sorry if I'm mistaking, but I think Ultimate (with capital U) means you think that's the name, if you don't, then sorry)

I think: if you can pack new archives with that wcx (compressor) plugin, then plugin itself is all right, just doesn't support what you want to do. I've noticed that my TC UP shows WinRAR's screen while using rar compression, so it's possible that you need WinRAR to work perfectly.

No no, by ULTIMATE I meant all-in-one pack, and yea no problem since by using capital U it can be decieving.

Now on to the ongoing problem, what you wrote makes sense, and it was the first thing I have tried. I have Winrar installed, and its working flawleslly, also internal compressor plugin works without any problems, it can create new archives or extract existing archives without problem, only thing I cant figure out is why cant I add a file/dir to an existing *.RAR archive, it works flawleslly with *.ZIP but doesnt work in rar in this version.

I have tried with, internal packer and also with WinRar as external one, still no-go.

Thanks for response.

Don't thank yet, I haven't helped you!Big GrinSad

I tried it on my computer, and it isn't possible.Sad
Though ZIP and ARJ support that funtion...(I haven't tested all of them).

But if you have WinRAR then you can just Drag (& Drop) the files you want to add to the archive, and you can open the archive by right clicking on it and clicking Open (only if it is associated with WinRAR, of course).

You must set patch to packer program

(Menu) > Configuration > Packer > RAR Packer: ...
Example: C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe

+

(Menu) > Configuration > Plugins > Packer plugins (.WCX) > Configure > All files with extension (ending with): rar > (none) > OK > OK

But if you remove this plugin, you can't extracting entire multi-volume RAR archive on TC UP.

For solve out with corrupted and lost .rar files try rar fixer. The utility restores rar data after power failures, malicious software. It demonstrates the results of recovered data and not to change source file during recovery.
