Updating Total Commander
#1
I'm running TCUP 3 and note that TC was updated to version 7.02 the other day. How can I update TCUP's installation of TC without losing the menu options (I've tried doing this and it wipes these out) - I assume there is a config file for me to backup but I can't figure out which one (wincmd.ini didn' work).

I think that it isn't necessary to update it, it doesn't change important things... and TC UP 3.1 will have it included, just 20 days from now.

But if you want to have it, then unpack (or install if necessary) the 7.02 to a directory and copy all files to TC UP's directory except wincmd.ini, wcx_ftp.ini, and LANGUAGE directory, if I remember correctly, then all the other parts will work fine, as they are from the same major version (7).

Great! Thank you very much. I agree that this particular update is probably non-essential (I don't use FTP) but it's nice to know how to get fixes if there are essential changes.

unrar.dll, default.bar and descript.ion also shouldn't be replaced, they are customized as well.

Oops... yes, I forgot BAR files... descript.ion is not necessary, so it can be replaced, I don't know about unrar.dll...
But if the user overwrites either bar or ini files, he can copy them from CONFIG\<Language> directory, so it wouldn't be a problem at all.
