Problem with tabs
#1
Hello all,

first of all, let me tell you how I love TC UP! I just discovered it recently and tried it out alongside my TC 7.02 and I fell for TC UP right away! It's the best file manager ever! So far I've only encountered one problem and that is tabs. I was used from TC to hit CTRL+T to open a new tab so I tried it in TC UP automatically but it didn't work. I thought it was me and that the key combination was different so I looked into the Help -> Keyboard thingy to check but it's not me, the key combination for opening a new tab IS CTRL+T in TC UP as well. When I use that combination, TC UP opens the multiple rename tool. I checked it and it works the same as in TC after hitting CTRL+M. In TC UP this tool opens for me after using both CTRL+T and CTRL+M. I use tabs a lot and so far I haven't been able to figure out how to open a new tab in TC UP, not even from the Tabs button on top. Please, does anybody have any idea how to fix this? Or am I just doing something wrong? Shy

I'm on Win XP Home Ed and TC UP 3.5 trial (for now).

1. Browse through: Configuration -> Misc.
2. Select Control + T key shortcut
3. Write "cm_OpenNewTab" as a command and hit assign button (with green icon).

Hi fenixproductions, thank you for your help but it didn't work. I did exactly what you said (though I didn't write the command, I clicked the browse icon and found it in the list of commands), then clicked the assign button, clicked ok, restarted TC UP and it doesn't do anything. Now it at least no longer opens the multiple rename tool. Tried to restart the comp, too, with no luck.

I think that problem lies on your PC. I've tested this shortcut on many different computers and it works correctly.
Is is possible that you have some additional application installed for managing keyboard shortcuts?

Worked just fine in TC 7.02 and older versions. I do have other programs using keyboard shortcuts (like Firefox for example where CTRL+T does exactly the same and have global hotkeys for winamp but for winamp I have CTRL+ALT+key combinations) but never had problems with this before. No idea what could be wrong with my computer that it doesn't work all of a sudden. I'll try reinstalling TC UP. Might be a bit of an overkill but worth the shot methinks Smile

Thanks for replying though Cool

*edit* so I've reinstalled TC UP and it still doesn't work. Forgot to save my settings and had to hassle with all the fonts and colours again, serves me right Rolleyes

Try clicking with the middle mouse button on any drive button.
Also try Ctrl+Up arrow.

I've got the same problem. I can't get the tabs working at all whatever I do. Version TCUP 3.5. TC 7.02a works just fine. Any suggestions?
Seems there's something wrong with redefining hotkeys. In every case I try the apply button stays gray. Otherwise all seems to be working well.
