Simple word processor

As a long-time TCUP user, I recall the simple but sufficiently capable word processor Angel Writer (which was awesome for opening, editing, and creating simple RTF files). Although the project is now outdated, I’m curious whether there might be a chance to bring back a lightweight word processor.
With Microsoft’s decision to remove WordPad at the end of 2024, there is definitely a need for such a program. LibreOffice Writer is too heavy for TCUP’s purpose, so I have a few relatively lightweight alternatives in mind:

UltraPad - a modernized WordPad replacement that is regularly maintained.
RWordPad - an independent ReactOS WordPad, ported from ReactOS to Windows.

I would be glad to hear your opinion.

Hello.
As part of the support I have translated the program into Czech language.
I will probably continue to update it when new versions are released or bugs are found.
For now I have saved it on my Google Drive.
Google thinks the .lng file is audio, so it tries to play it and after downloading it, the file extension changes to .mp3

TC UP New is a part of Total Commander Ultima Prime software package. It is designed to create files and directories. The idea of the program is to enrich the TC default tool used to create directories (accessible by pressing the F7 key) for a new, useful features. TC UP New is fast, simple and functional.

As well as creating directory or directories, TC UP New also can create files with certain extension, create directories defined in the list or create project schemas defined by the user.

Application was rewritten. Hope this fixes most anonying issues...
Please test it and if you find any issues, please report it in this thread.
Application may log all operations. To activate it you need to open configuration file:
\TC UP\PLUGINS\Tools\TCUPNew\TCUPNew.ini
and edit the following lines:

[App]
Save_Log=1

Application will log all operations into the following file:
\TC UP\PLUGINS\Tools\TCUPNew\TCUPNew_Log.txt

If you find real problem just paste here last lines from log (text between "Application Start" and "Application terminated"). This may help to eliminate potential issues.

Universal Extractor is outdated

Hi, recently I got stuck with unable to unpack RAR file with universal extractor, which is a part of TCUP.
I figured out that (i) Universal Extractor was last time released in 2010 and (ii) RAR added new format (called RAR5), which is unknown for Universal Extractor. Of course, there are plenty of turnarounds, but let's try to find a replacement of Universal Extractor, or find another plugin specifically for RAR files.

Program icons

Hi and thank you for doing a great job with TCUP.

Would it be possible to make the buttonbar with programicons (paths contained in the file DEFAULT02.bar) sensitive to which programs that you choose to install ?

In the new 7.1 the icon for utorrent still exists and i have not installed Miranda/Opera and other applications but the icons for the programs are still shown in the buttonbar.

Please see the attached picture.

This could be really nice.

Replace utorrent

uTorrent is known for including malware.
I suggest to replace it. Right now I´m using Deluge as bittorrent client and I´m happy with it. Maybe TCUP could adopt it too.

Statbar into retirement

I was trying StatBar for the first time and i wondered why this ancient application still is included.

Memory is shown in the MB-range and it supports dual-core CPUs !!!

The included version is released in 2003 - it is as dead as a Dodo.

Ditch this old application and the installation looses 1.65 MB or find something more recent.

Why there is no TCUPULTIMATE?

Hi,
Why there is no TCUPULTIMATE in TC UP v6.x? How do you open files using wlx plugins?
OpenFIleTC lists "TC UP Ultimate" (also AIMP, Docx2Rtf, FileAlyzer), but there is no executive file TCUPULTIMATE.exe.
Is this a program mistake or there is a replacement for TCUPULTIMATE.exe in new versions of TC UP?

TrueCrypt development was officially halted and its official downloads page was taken down.

VeraCrypt is a fork of TrueCrypt, being based on the TrueCrypt code and compatible with existing TrueCrypt volumes. I think it would be a good choice to include it in your next release.
