Hi all!

I hope I have choosen right board to post the thread. Sorry if not =)

Here's list of my questions/wishes/suggestions about TCUP.

buttonBars

1. bug: if you don't install all the programms, Programms menu will be shortened, that's cool. BUT you will still have all icons in the Programs bar and that looks buggy

2. request: for me it seems very strange that I can't get to Programs bar from Main bar. I have added navigation button to all three buttons bars to get from any bar to any with one click. In attachment there's a screenshot with several hints to illustrate my idea. Is it possible to get this as default feature?

3. request: buttons can have "%n" parameter, which allows you to pass fileName to the programm. I have added this parameter to players and I'm really happy with it. Probably, that can also come by default but some testing needed (e.g. AIMP doesn't open folders)

4. question: navigation buttons (back, forward etc.) look weird and they are not really useful IMHO. Is it possible to place them on additional (optional) button bar which can be toggled on/off insted of deleting/adding each button?

5. question: even if you pick high resolution for the Appearence (like 1680x1050), icons will be very small (16 pixels). There's an option to have them twice bigger (32 pixels), and many icons are done for this "high" resolution. Is it possible to switch icon size at the same time with resolution? Moreover - I can redraw icons which looks bad in "high" resolution, just let me know.

configuration

1. huge request: as I know all the settings (bars, hotkeys, colors, favorite directories and etc.) are stored in several separate files. Is it possible to add some plugin that will collect all the configuration files to one? Plugin also must be able to apply all the settings to your TCUP with an option to backup current settings. It's like some theme file which I need a lot - TCUP is installed on my personal notebook, my PC in office, my girlfriend's notebook and on the PC used by my father. I really want to be able to share all the settings easy and fast. Is it possible?

1. question: I really like transparency feature for the Search window in Notepad++ but settings for the window get lost each time I exit the software. Is it bug or I don't know something?

2. question: both KMPlayer and AIMP don't save playlists after I exit them. Is it a bug or just limitations of portable versions?

3. request: there's free software for cleaning you system which is called CCleaner. It works really good and stable. Is it possible to get it to the TCUP? I'd really like to see it inside

AFAIK AIMP folders handling should be fixed in next version.
I recommend you to use %P%N instead just %N.

Ad.4.

It is not possible to have two button bars at the same time.

IMHO it might satisfy many users but more will be unhappy. Personally I don't like too big icons. It reminds me the times I had 800x600 screen. I am using 1280x1024 resolution now and I don't want to have more space occupied than it is needed. This is what always makes me wander. Why people buy bigger LCDs and want to have the same percentage of free space used?

This is a problem we are working on some time. It will be, probably, fixed in some of next versions.

Your opinion is pretty reasonable. I'be been thinking about it for a long time but the problem is limited number of buttons which can be assigned. If I want to add one I have to remove another. It is open issue so I will think about once again.

It is intentional. Whole menu and buttons will give clean applications start. If you want to load files into specified program, this is what F3 and F4 keys are for. I.e. select few mp3 files and press F3 key - AIMP should be started with needed files on the playlist.

Since 3.9 version update mode is working, so all of your settings are kept untouched. You can transfer / copy all your TC UP directory to other PC and it should work the same.

Next AIMP versions should have no problems with that.

This shows that you don't know what are you talking about. Have you ever seen TC UP on a high res screen? The buttons are huge, way way too big. With tiny 16x16 icons. I agree with damat at all. Actually I reported this before.

Maybe I don't. I've worked on mentioned resolution one year only.
I can agree that controls size could depend on screen resolution. I know that in most of places buttons, labels, edit boxes are too big and not consistent with the rest of TC but for toolbars buttons 16x16 (rarely: 24x24) icons size is the best one for me. I can't imagine an app which would have i.e. 16x16 icons for 1024 and 32x32 for 1680. It could make me angry if there would be no settings to change that kind of behaviour. As long as it configurable I have nothing against and I will vote “yes”: bigger icons for bigger screens.

two more things:

2. request there's a plugin for working with Windows Mobile devices. I'm using wincefs.wfx to work with my Qtek s100 and it's pretty stable. Though sometimes it doesn't allow me to copy files (have no idea why). In this case I use Explorer and everything is fine. Probably, you could add this functionality to the Project.

I don't really know where the problem is. I have never seen such error before and (as author) I am the person who sometimes install new version more than 10 times per day.

got it... but I'm curious: if you need to run this plugin, then you have ppc and activeSync (99,99%) =)

to be serious: is it possible to add some warning/error message when you run plug without installed activeSync OR add some checking while installing the plugin through installer interface?
