Total Commander Ultima Prime is a collection of the software and customized settings sets gathered in one installation package for enhancing Total Commander (file manager) possibilities.
Our project differs from official distribution provided by Christian Ghisler on www.totalcmd.com site.
If you’d like to see and try our solution, you can download it from our server and discuss about it on our forum board.
We provide our customization work as freeware in the form as it is, but please remember that Total Commander itself is distributed as shareware. Please keep in mind, that other contained applications licenses might differ and not be proper for commercial purposes too.
The history of the Total Commander Ultima Prime project began in 2005, when I discovered the Total Commander program, I was so fascinated by it that I checked its functions for weeks.
The ability to save all program settings in own directory allowed to transfer it between computers, thanks to which I could prepare my own Total Commander configuration and use it with the same settings in each workstation.
An installation environment was needed and here Kamil Czyczoń (Poland) appeared, who taught me how to use Inno Setup, on which the first versions of the TC UP installer were created.
As I could include all files and configurations in one installation file, I thought to myself, to release such installer publicly, but first I needed the consent of the author of Total Commander, Christina Ghisler - after obtaining it, together with Kamil Czyczoń (Poland) we created the first version of the website and at midnight on December 31, 2005, TC UP 1.0 version was released publicly (I pay a lot of attention to symbolism, that's why all subsequent versions, are issued at midnight, on the last day of the month).
In the first versions, I focused mainly on the expansion of the Total Commander program itself, expanding the menu's capabilities and adding various plugins, but already in version 1.2 the first additional program appeared - Notepad ++.
Then I came up with the idea, to add to installer, except for Total Commander himself, other free programs, which I use - so I started contacting the creators of these programs, asking for permission, after receiving them, in subsequent versions I added next programs, thanks to this, they are the best in the project, programs in their categories, such as: AIMP, AntMovieCatalog, Audacity, Captura, HEXelon, HomeBank, HWiNFO, HxD, IcoFX, InfraRecorder, Inkscape, KeePass, Krita, MirandaNG, MPC-BE, MyPhoneExplorer, Notepad++, Poweroff, qBittorrent, Recuva, ShutterEncoder, SubtitleWorkshop, SumatraPDF, SystemExplorer, TeamViewer, UniversalExtractor, VeraCrypt, Vivaldi, WinContig, WinMerge, XnView.
I have to write immodestly that I had some influence on the development of some of these programs, many functions in them appeared at my request.
The breakthrough year for the Total Commander Ultima Prime Project was 2007, when Paweł Porwisz appeared, who knows perfectly well the environment for creating NSIS installers, His knowledge allowed the creation of a TC UP installer, at a completely new level, with many functions not available before.
Paweł is also an excellent programmer, thanks to his knowledge of the Delphi language, we have proprietary programs in TC UP, such as TC UP New (for quickly creating a large number of files and directories), and TC UP Integrator and TC UP Turbo (for quick project configuration for individual user preferences).
I think that a good comparison of my relationship with Paweł would be to compare the relationship between Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak from Apple… I have ideas, but without the "technical" knowledge that Paweł has, I would not be able to do anything…
Over all these years, many people have gone through the project, whom I want to thank very much (in alphabetical order), these are: Adam Bukowiński (Poland), Artem Izmaylov (Russia), Dariusz J. Kawecki (Poland), Kamil Czyszczoń (Poland), Karol Kamiński (Poland), Maciej Adamczyk (Poland), Major Péter (Hungary), Paweł Porwisz (Poland)
And translators: China - Dreamy Mung, Croatia - Daniel Bernazza, Czech Republic - Martin Růžička and Vaclav Stajner and Petr Gasparik, Denmark - Jens Sabroe Pedersen, France - Thierry Rodrigues, Greece - Tampouri Bianca-Tampouris Themis, Spain - Mario Ángel, Netherlands - Stephan Hoek, Germany - Andreas Greunke and EXELBONSAI, Norway - Svein-Ove Urdal, Russia - Anton Isaev and Artem Izmaylov, Romania - Scutelnciu Ionel, Serbia - Nikola Vukelnic, Slovakia - Michal Kabát, Sweden - Fredrik Larsson, Turkey - Mahmut VURAL, Ukraine - Roman Yaroslavovich, Hungary - Major Péter and Molnár Balázs, Italy - Carlo Marini and Douglas Quaid.
When creating the TC UP project, I always had the effect of being maximally configurable under user preferences, so that everyone could set everything under themselves.
90% of the things that can be done on your computer can also be done in TC UP in several ways - if you don't know something, ask on board
The project has been free since its inception - unfortunately, server maintenance and the time we spend creating TC UP for you, costs - that's why we ask for financial support, only thanks to your generosity can we still release more versions.
